Tech Tips for an Optimal Experience

My web page just froze the video/generated an error/didn't load chat boxes/otherwise glitched. How do I fix it?

If you experience glitches, reload/refresh your web browser page by clicking the circling-arrow icon at the top left of your computer screen.

The video continually pauses, buffers, fritzes, and has difficulty with a continual stream. What should I do?

By default your video is rendering in high definition, as noted by the "HD" in the bottom right corner of the video. To select a lower quality and ease the burden on your Internet load, click the "HD" and select a lower resolution.

Oh no—I don't have audio!

Check to see if your computer speakers are turned on and ensure you don't have them muted. Also, make sure audio isn't playing through a headset.

What do these buttons mean, and how can they optimize my experience?

Video Controls

  • The diagonal, off-setting arrows in the top right corner of the video allow you to make the video full screen. To return to a smaller video, click the "Esc" button on your keyboard. Note: If you make the video full screen, you won't necessarily see the Q&A with the presenter.
  • HD The HD button in the bottom right corner of the video allows you to adjust the definition quality of the video. If the video isn't streaming smoothly, try decreasing the definition.
  • / The arrow in the bottom left of the video is the play-pause button. Note: you may pause the video but when you push play again, the video will play the amount of information/time it has buffered, but then it will jump forward to live video stream.

Chat Controls

  • The open-book-with-arrow icon is a sign-out button. However, for today's purposes, this button has been disabled.
  • The bullhorn icon is to mute or unmute chat notification sounds. Since this would interfere with the webinar audio, this is disabled by default.
  • The incomplete-box-with-arrow icon allows you to open the chat box in a separate, small window, so you can move the chat box around on your screen for your convenience. Note: This may be useful; try it out!
