ABMP is excited to announce that the Nevada legislature adopted Senate Bill 161 (SB 161), the Massage Compact (Compact), on June 13. The goal of the Compact is to simplify interstate massage therapy practice and regulation by reducing unnecessary complications related to licensure by endorsement or reciprocity.
Now that Nevada has passed SB 161, at least six more states must pass the Compact bill to enable massage therapists in those participating states to obtain a multistate license, making it easier for professionals to work in other jurisdictions temporarily and with ease. This process will reduce the financial burdens of massage therapists requiring and paying for multiple state licenses and will eliminate lengthy application wait times. We will let you know once enough states pass the Compact bill so you can start moving from one compact-participating state to another.
As you may know, ABMP was in favor of the Compact and wrote a letter of support to the Nevada legislature. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to contact their local representatives to show support for the Compact. It’s so important for lawmakers to hear from people who will be impacted by a bill, key stakeholders like you. ABMP applauds the industry professionals who elevated their voices to help pass this legislation.
